So yes – Notion is different alright! And that’s an understatement. None of the productivity tips out there had worked for me because I never made them work for me! Thinking back about how I chose “Mindful” as my word of the year for 2020 made me realise that no matter what I do I never considered taking myself into consideration. I mean, how different could it be from the other apps? I rejected joining the Notion clan for the longest time because I didn’t want to jump on yet another productivity / project management app. The problem: I was in love with “productivity” but I didn’t make it functional for me. And then I wondered why I just could not stick with any productivity app. For a while, I was in Productivity Heaven! I also had a label for each status of those daily tasks. I have GTD, Pomodoro Technique, Eat The Frog, you name it. I had all these productivity tips compiled in a single list to make sure that I always have them whenever I’m feeling lost. I used it every day for work – literally set up a “card” for each day of the month, bullet journal style. I soaked up as much tips and tricks that I could do in the free version. I didn’t stick with it after two days.įor my current work, I was on Trello religiously since March. I’ve used Asana for a project, but the other team members went back to listing the to-do’s in WhatsApp. Whatever that was free to use out there, I was using them. For a while I integrated it with Google Docs, but it was just such a hassle to keep going back and forth that I went to try other productivity apps. I wanted a simple to-do list but with functions to add notes and not just “description” or “comments”. I even used it for my freelance work for a while and some side projects I ventured in.ĭespite that, I always felt like something was missing. Back then, they had more features in the free version. In one of my previous companies I worked for in 2016, we used Trello to manage our projects. I wish I had Notion when I was in college, but I’m also glad that I am finally on the Notion bandwagon after being on Trello for years. Notion is all the rage right now and I am absolutely living for it.
